I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, you see for some reason unknown to me, I'd picked up a virus the other day. Well, it was actually a Trojan with little way of removal but to reformat. Luckily god built me with a few good brain cells and although Id lost some of my bits and bobs I was able t use a backup drive which is completely separate from the main PC. So I was able to save all my work but was GUTTED (who wouldn't be?)to have to do a fresh reinstall. Anyway, its good to have vista running speedily along once again. Oh, and I've installed even more backup software now onto the 350gb drive. My C drive is much like everyone else's in that in its backed up version it takes up around 2.5 to 4gb compressed.
Its safe to say I'm safely protected now....I hope.AVG anti virus which I swapped over to last year having been a long time user of Panda Anti virus (until I got no replies back from their customer help dept OR various other comms over a major problem I was having)
AVG is a good anti virus software as I didn't want to have to use one that had a build in firewall, preferring to use another source for this.
Anyway....I just hope this all works. Oh and I think the source for the problems was some demo software I downloaded of the net. It came up as a beta demo and was scanned by both an onliner at PC Tools and AND avg, neither picked up a virus or trojan etc. But I dont blame the Antivirus software as even after the download was unpackaged out of it compressed .rar state the single .exe came through clean as a whistle. I was amazed when the explorer suddenly popped up taking me to casino advert after casino advert. I'm just glad its over and rid of.
